SiteWhisper ("we", "us") provides an AI support widget that indexes public pages you choose and answers visitor questions using that content. This policy describes how we handle information.
What we collect
- Account data: email, name, and credentials you provide when registering.
- Indexed content: text extracted from URLs you submit for crawling, stored so the widget can answer questions.
- Chat transcripts: messages sent through the widget on your site, linked to your account and a visitor identifier in the browser.
- Billing identifiers: if you subscribe, Stripe customer and subscription metadata (we do not store full card numbers).
How we use data
To operate the service: authenticate you, crawl and store snippets from your pages, generate responses with an AI provider, enforce plan limits, improve reliability, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal data.
Crawling and your website
Our crawler identifies as SiteWhisper Bot. You should only index sites you own or are authorized to process. You can remove a site and its stored chunks from your dashboard (subject to reasonable backup retention).
AI processing
Questions and relevant excerpts from your indexed content may be sent to third-party AI APIs to produce answers. Those providers process data under their own terms.
Email verification & security
We require a verified email to add sites, change billing, and use export features. Passwords are stored with strong hashing (bcrypt). Password reset links expire after a short time. We recommend a unique password for SiteWhisper.
Your rights (access, portability, erasure)
If GDPR or similar laws apply to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to certain processing.
- Export: signed-in users can download a JSON copy of account data, indexed content, and chat transcripts from the dashboard (after email verification).
- Deletion: you can delete your account and associated sites, chunks, conversations, and usage counters from the dashboard; confirm with your password. If you have an active paid subscription, cancel it in the billing portal first so Stripe is not charged.
- Other requests: contact us at the email below; we will respond within a reasonable time.
Retention
We retain data while your account is active and as needed for billing, security, and legal compliance. After you delete your account, we remove associated records from our primary database; limited backups may persist for a short technical window.
